St Peter’s Church, Petersham, London
Imperial Bricks Limited

The Commission
Commissioned by Imperial Bricks to photograph a modest extension to an existing church, with a focus on the use of their bricks within the new architectural intervention. The brief was to capture the relationship between the new and original brickwork, exploring the differences in colour, texture and character, while placing the extension within the wider context of the historic building and its setting.
The Photography
The photography moves between wider views of the church and closer studies of the extension, exploring how the new structure connects with the existing building. Particular attention is given to the junctions between old and new, the textures of the brickwork and the way the materials sit alongside one another. Together, the images establish a visual narrative of the extension and its relationship with the original architecture.
