  • What is architectural photography?
Architectural photography is the art of capturing images of buildings and other structures in a way that is both aesthetically pleasing and accurate in terms of representation. It involves a keen eye for detail, composition, and lighting to highlight the design and functionality of the architecture.
  • Why should I hire a professional architectural photographer?
Hiring a professional architectural photographer ensures that the images of your building or structure are of the highest quality. Professionals have the expertise, equipment, and experience to capture the best angles, lighting, and details that showcase the architecture in its best light. This is crucial for marketing, documentation, and portfolio purposes.
  • Can you photograph both interiors and exteriors?
Yes, I specialise in both interior and exterior architectural photography. Whether it's capturing the grandeur of a building's facade or the intricate details of its interior design, I ensure that each photograph tells a compelling story about the architecture.
  • What equipment do you use for architectural photography?
For architectural photography, I use high-resolution cameras, wide-angle lenses, and specialised equipment such as tripods and lighting gear. This ensures that the images are sharp, well-composed, and accurately represent the architectural details.
  • How do you prepare for an architectural photography shoot?
Preparation for an architectural photography shoot involves scouting the location, understanding the best times for natural lighting, and planning the shots to highlight the key features of the architecture. I also coordinate with the you the client to understand their vision and any specific requirements they may have.
  • What happens if it is raining or bad weather on the shoot day?
If it is raining or the weather is really bad on the shoot day, it is up to the client to decide whether to proceed with the shoot or reschedule. If you choose to go ahead, I will make the best of the conditions. If you prefer to reschedule, please note that this will incur additional costs. However, if the conditions (in rare occasions such as hurricanes, thunderstorms, etc.) are deemed unsafe by local authorities or by James Morris Photography, there will be no additional costs to rearrange a more suitable date.
  • Do you edit the photographs?
Yes, I edit the photographs to an advanced professional standard using industry-leading software such as Capture One and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Can I edit the photographs?
It is a difficult to ensure quality and shoot without knowing what is possible in the post production stage, therefore to ensure the highest quality and create work I am proud of all editing is undertaken by James Morris Photography.
  • Do you have a day rate/price list?
I do use a day rate for architectural and interior photography as I work on a project by project basis, as guide my day rate is £500. I recommend getting in touch to discuss your specific requirements and get a more precise quote for your project, all quotes are fully inclusive. For property photography, where the main objective is to sell a home or a commercial property and have photographs to be used in the marketing of that property I do have a set Price List, please get in touch at james@jamesmorris.uk
  • Do your prices include editing?
I believe in being transparent in pricing and fair, all my quotes will be inclusive of editing of the final photographs and will usually state the number photographs to be delivered. For smaller projects it might be shown as a single item that is fully inclusive. However for most quotes it will be itemised and have separate lines for the various aspects of an architectural or interior photography project. Pre-Production (Scouting) Production (Shoot) Post Productions (Editing) If you have any questions on pricing and quotes please do get in touch.
  • What are your payment terms?
Payment terms are typically 50% upfront and the remaining 50% upon delivery of the final images. However, this can be discussed and adjusted based on the project requirements.

Credit terms are 30 days from the date of the invoice.
  • What is the usage licence granted for the photographs?
The usage licence terms for the photographs generally include a non-exclusive license for an agreed duration (usually 2 years), in a specific geographical location that allows you to use the images for your specified purposes. All terms will be agreed upon prior to the shoot to ensure you can use the photographs as intended. The usage licence will give you the right to use the photographs as needed, however, it is important to note that the copyright remains with James Morris Photography.
